How they're made Contact Us

Beak Boots are working to revive some of the footwear manufacturing that has long since left Sweden for mass-producing factories abroad. We want to take advantage of the many years of knowledge that exists locally which guarantees a kind production, both to the people and the environment.

We therefore choose all our materials with great care and ensure the highest quality in all work, which is all done by hand. The result is unique, individual, long-lasting products that are works of art in themselves. To give you a better understanding of how the production in our factory in northern Sweden takes place, we have included a step by step video of the procedure, as well as information of the different parts of Beak Boots.

Our materials:

The Sole
The Beak Boot sole is made out of cell rubber. The air in the sole means that it repels the cold from the ground and insulates the boot. The form of the sole is cut by hand.

The Leather
Beak Boots use naturally tanned leather from Tärnsjö tannery.
"We still tan our leather vegetably, but now we use tree extract that provides faster results. Hence, the tanning process is now taking only five to eight weeks.

The result is an organic leather that breathes better than the usual chrome tanned leather and that does not cause allergies because it is chromium-free. A leather with a stunning surface and a naturally beautiful natural aging."

The Tärnsjö leather hold a TÜV label, which means that they did not contain any harmful substances.

The above does not apply to the colors blue and red. They do not contain chromium or other hazardous substances, but need a different type of treatment to achieve the correct color.

The Metal Plate
The metal plate is made out of stainless steel to withstand the elements. It is engraved with Beak Boots own label by Helena Torhage's (Beak Boot's founder) dad in his garage outside Stockholm.
